The George Fortier Memorial Scholarship

The Central Florida Women’s League Foundation in honor of George Fortier established the George Fortier Memorial Scholarship in 2005. George Fortier exemplified many of the qualities necessary to achieve a balanced and successful life. His strength of character, dedication to his family, leadership to his community and generous philanthropic philosophy guided his life. The George Fortier Memorial Scholarship offers financial assistance to a qualified male student that models these life principles.

The George Fortier Memorial Scholarship Guidelines

Applicant must be a senior high school male student at Dr. Phillips, Ocoee, Olympia or West Orange High School. Scholarship money will be awarded on the basis of an individual’s character, scholastic achievements, community service and financial need.

The scholarship recipient will have the benefit of a non-renewable scholarship to an accredited institution of higher learning; i.e., two-year community college or four-year college or university in the United States. It shall be payable in the year immediately following high school graduation, must be used by August of that year, and must be used for the purpose of tuition, room, board, books or school related fees. Exceptions to this must have prior approval from the current CFWL board and will be determined on an individual basis.

Semi-finalists in the evaluation process will be asked to participate in a short personal interview with CFWL Scholarship Committee members at the applicant’s high school. Date and time of this interview Scholarship Committee’s preliminary review.

All CFWLF scholarship applications must be completed in full, including an essay, transcripts, recommendation letters and financial information online at by February 6, 2017.
